Why Academic Venues?
Academic venues are the new venue operators that hoteliers are keeping a close eye on. Universities operate some of the very best in hospitality within their purpose built conference spaces. Each offering innovative and creative spaces, with the addition of extensive summer availability once students depart.
College Court, which celebrated its FIFTH birthday this month, is a clear example of excellence offering inspiring spaces with an onsite hotel, exceptional catering and a knowledgeable and passionate team behind it all.
The wider portfolio includes Leicester Conferences, with Stamford Court, Oadby Village and Leicester Campus, all offering something different but all feeding back into education and development of our future leaders.
Here’s our TOP FIVE reasons to use an academic venue for your next event!
Universities commit a large amount of money to investing in their facilities, predominantly this is of course about the students, which in turn allows for new and innovative spaces to be available for conferences and meetings. Their ethos on investment, keeping things fresh, modern and on trend meaning that delegates can also take advantage and enjoy state-of-the-art facilities.
Often centrally located within City perimeters and benefitting from large amounts of onsite car parking to go alongside their spaces. With the added benefit of excellent transport links making them a great choice for events of various sizes!
Trendy, innovative, creative and often cutting edge design, facilities within Universities are some of the best that can be found in the UK.
Not for profit:
Many organisations are conscious of their corporate responsibilities and using an academic venue is a sure way to make a difference. All profits are re invested back into the University to improve our education system, facilities and fund future projects and research.
Our millennials want the very best when it comes to technology so many venues are now fitted and regularly updated with state-of-the-art technology and audio visual equipment. From smart signage to big screens, tweet decks and automated attendance, academic venues have a lot to offer.
There’s a lot of talk within the industry on how incredible the spaces within academic venues are; seen recently in Conference News, the leading industry publication. Steve Crawford, Centre Director at College Court features in the magazine and says ‘Investment is high on our agenda and as a multi award-winning venue we regularly invest in many areas of the business. Catering has to be near the top, a bad speaker may well be forgotten but if we get the lunch offering wrong boy do we know about it! Keeping our offering fresh, innovative, exciting and enticing is always our goal and we invest heavily in areas of catering and service. Our people are also a main focus of investment, ensuring they are well trained, developed and have the confidence not only to feel empowered to make decisions but to truly be at ease in their roles allowing their personalities to shine through. Not to forget our building… with over £50k spent in 2017 on facilities and a further £225k planned for 2018/19 we are committed to ensuring we are top of our game for conference and accommodation facilities. These include new AV equipment, innovative design concepts, new lighting, furniture and decoration, and we’re only five years old! We believe that a venue has to reach out to each guest, offer them an experience to remember, and with a 56% repeat customer base keeping investment is key.’
There is even a whole awards night dedicated to the excellence of our national treasures, the Academic Venue Awards, this year taking place at the iconic Great Hall at the University of Birmingham on the 27th November 2018.
Last year College Court won ‘Best Customer Service National’ something that we are incredibly proud of.
Maybe your next event will take place in one of the UK’s Academic Venues…
